International Citizen Service (ICS) UK Manager

International Service - York

Starting Salary: £27,241 plus benefits

Tenure: Fixed term, commencing as soon as practicable, with an end date of 27 July 2018. This will hopefully be extended or made permanent subject to funding.

International Service is a UK based development charity primarily working throughout Africa and the occupied Palestinian territory. We promote the human rights of vulnerable people, and support the development of local organisations and communities through capacity building and empowering local people to create sustainable change.

We are also part of a consortium who deliver the DFID funded International Citizen Service (ICS). ICS brings together young people, who volunteer to make a difference in some of the poorest communities around the world.

The ICS UK Manager is responsible for the recruitment, selection, and training of UK ICS Volunteers and the logistical arrangements for their overseas placements. In 2016/17 this totalled 468 volunteers and 64 volunteer team leaders. They are also responsible for completion rates of return volunteer Action at Home projects and ICS Alumni engagement activities. They also contribute to the wider management, strategic leadership and development of the whole organisation. 

Based in York, they will manage and lead a fabulous team including an ICS Officer and 3 Coordinators, an Alumni Engagement Coordinator and a Volunteer Assessor team.    

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high level of integrity, have a positive attitude and a strong belief in the International Service vision and values. They should have a successful track record in a similar role, and have demonstrable people management and ITC skills.
