Youth Summit 2015
Tomorrow, International Service will be proudly represented by 27 young people at The Youth Summit at the Department for International Development in London.
The event is designed and run by young people in partnership with International Citizen Service (ICS). It is a chance for young people to get their voices heard on global issues ahead of the Global Goals meeting being attended by world leaders at the end of September. These goals will ambitiously aim to end poverty and climate change for good.
International Service ICS Returned Volunteer and Youth Summit attendee, Ruth Clark, told us:
“I’m really excited about the opportunity to meet with a large group of likeminded people to talk about the key issues facing development at the moment.”
“I think we are in the age of social media and the world is so connected and young people are the ones that are most in touch with that…
if we can harness that and use it as a positive in terms of development - then I think we can play a huge role.”
The day will involve workshops, discussion panels with Secretary of State, Justine Greening, and a market stall including our very own International Service staff members, Michael Dockar (Deputy Chief Executive), Aamirah Patel (Alumni Coordinator), and returned team leader, Callum Northcote.
